LOVE WHAT YOU DO
Life is too short to do something that doesn't bring you joy. Find your passion and don't just "make time for it," find a way to make your life revolve around that passion.
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Pure Michigan. I grew up in the country, walking barefoot on stones and spending summers away from the bustle of any city streets. I spent most of my time devouring movies and books and can still remember upsetting my dad by bringing a book to the dinner table, but in my defense, I needed to know what was going to happen next! This craving for, "one more chapter" became my mantra, and there were many mornings where I missed the bus, or nodded off at school, because I stayed up too late reading.
Stories are my life.
After high school, I attended SC4 with the intention of pursuing a psychology degree, but ended up strengthening my love of literature with great English classes and fantastic professors.
It was there that I discovered a whole different world...the world of William Shakespeare. My teacher, the brilliant and amazingly smart Donna Parkhurst, introduced me to the Bard with Othello and from then on, I was hooked. Reading a Shakespeare play, or seeing a performance, is like studying a completely different language (because, in a way, it is) and being transported to an entirely different universe (because, in a way, you are) and I loved it.
It was during this time that I met my best friend, the incredibly smart and talented Hanna Primeau.

This meeting was fortuitous because Hanna inspired me to push myself out of my comfort zones and pursue more in life and when we graduated from SC4 she went off to U of M (University of Michigan) I went to GVSU (Grand Valley State University) in West Michigan.
It was at GVSU that I continued to follow and delve further into stories, both my own and those of others. I studied English and writing, and again had wonderfully talented professors (many of them authors, poets, and screen writers themselves) who pushed me to think beyond the obvious.
It was also at GVSU where I met my husband, author Mitch Rowland. I may be biased, but his work is awesome!
Being married to a writer is definitely "the dream" for someone who loves stories. I literally live with a story teller, and the best part is that I get to proofread and edit for him. And this is how I realized what I love to do. I love helping other people with their passions! There are few greater feelings than helping writers develop their stories with rich detail, or urging them to dig deeper into their character's psyches. I love helping people with projects that require an extra set of eyes or hands, whether it be editing, transcribing, organizing, or designing. If they need some help with the busy work, I'm their woman.

Sure, writing my own stories is fun and I enjoy that creative endeavor of crafting the perfect sentence, or plotting the most surprising twist, but there is no greater feeling, for me, than sitting down with a writer and talking about their stories and the universes they have built. I love helping authors reach further and delve deeper into their characters, and build upon their worlds.
Great characters get my imagination working overtime and strong plots with surprise twists around every corner keep me entertained well after I've finished watching the movie or reading the book (Jennifer Hillier's The Butcher STILL gets me and I read that book a couple years ago!)
I love stories. Let me help you tell yours.

HOBBIES
MOVIES
I love everything about movies. The anticipation leading up to a new release, buying your ticket, getting your concessions, finding your seat, watching the trailers, and finally that moment of quiet excitement as the lights go down and the movie begins. The movie theater is one of my happy places and I could spend hours there if given the opportunity.

And I love all kinds of movie genres; action, comedy, horror, mystery, thriller...if it looks good, I'm game to watch it (and sometimes even if it doesn't look good!)

My Top Ten Favorite Films (in no particular order):
• Tombstone
• The Tenth Kingdom (technically a TV mini series event, but it's long enough that I count it as a movie)
• John Wick
• The Devil's Advocate
• Back to the Future (I, II & III because I won't choose between them, sorry not sorry).
• Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Yes I like them all...yes even Crystal Skull, but I will choose a favorite and it's Last Crusade)
• The Holiday
• Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
• Love Actually
• Bridget Jones's Diary

Some of my dreams are to work as a script supervisor on a real movie set and to one day have one of my scripts made into a film.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I didn't start getting into photography until 2012, and only then, because my sister loved the few photos I did take. She is my biggest fan and asked me to be her wedding photographer and often has me take photos of her kids.

I don't really refer to myself as a photographer, and if I do I stress that I am a self taught amateur. But it has developed into something that I really enjoy.
I like to think of myself as more of a candid, or journalistic, photographer. I love capturing moments as they happen, but would love to learn about posing and lighting.
My nature photos end up being some of my favorites.
All of the photographs on this site are my own work and if you'd like to see more, please click the links below to view my albums on Flickr.
